Diana Hammerstone (MSE ’20) defended her dissertation proposal and is officially in candidacy as she rounds out the final year of her PhD. Many thanks to her committee members Profs. Niels Holten-Andersen, Sabrina Jedlicka, Brandon Krick, and Kelly Schultz. You know things are going well when your committee members start brainstorming new ideas because they are so excited about your work. Congratulations, Diana!
Part of Diana’s recent project was initiated during her time with Dr. Pierre Nassoy and the BioImaging OptoFluids group at the University of Bordeaux in France last summer. She worked closely with Dr. Adeline Boyreau to characterize cell morphology on our 3D-printed scaffolds using high-resolution imaging techniques pioneered by their lab. This international research experience was generously funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through an International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) grant awarded to Lehigh University (Award# 2153599; PI Daniel Ou-Yang).
